PROTECTIVE COVERS USED WITH MAGNESIUM CASTING


OUR CUSTOMER:

The SHILOH Industries company implements the largest portfolio in automotive industry in design and manufacturing of products such as parts of body, undercarriage and powertrain in vehicles. SHILOH products are made from alloys of different metals: aluminum, magnesium and steel, as well as innovative laminates of their own production.


MAGNESIUM CASTING – COVERS FOR LUBRICATING AND PICK&PLACE ROBOTS

The protective cover for the ABB robot is excellent protection of the machine during its work involving magnesium alloy casts. The robots work in environment with high humidity and temperature. The lubricating robot in particular is exposed to a very large amount of steam and oils, whose long-term effect causes deterioration of the varnish from the robot’s body. There is a high amount of dust and there are splashes of burning magnesium with temperature of 3000–3100°C. EVO_mold protective covers isolate the machines from direct exposure to factors such as moisture, oils, dust and magnesium splashes, heat radiation. The fabric of the covers is fireproof and is impregnated with specialist high temperature silicone, which protects it from moisture and chemicals.


PICK&PLACE OF ALUMINUM CASTS

The protective gripper cover is used at the workstation of the ABB robot responsible for transporting aluminum casts. The cover was created to protect moving spiral conduits and the gripper fingers without blocking their movements. The cover is resistant to high temperature and mechanical damage caused by pieces of solidified metal and coolant vapour. The fabric of the cover has excellent insulating and reflective properties, reflecting up to 90% of heat radiation.


FILLING OF A HOOD PROTECTING A ROBOTIC CASTING WORKSTATION

EVO_mold protective curtain protects the workstation of the robot casting magnesium alloy parts and prevents the contamination from spreading to the rest of the facility. The cover blocks lubricant vapours, oils, dust and ashes. It also insulates the robot’s surroundings from high temperatures and stops the spread of flames from burning magnesium. The construction of the hood filled with elements made of stiff fabric, waterproofed on both sides protects from moisture and splashes of metal, while allowing free movement of the machine.

PROTECTION OF FANUC ROBOT DURING DEBURRING OF ALUMINUM PARTS

DESCRIPTION:

Protective robot cover in an explosive zone.

The purpose of the EVO_dust cover is to protect the robot from fine particle dust that accumulates and penetrates its mobile elements, causing damage to seals and gears. The antistatic surface of the cover prevents accumulation of dust and buildup of static charge, which can be particularly dangerous around potentially explosive dust.


PROTECTION OF YASKAWA MOTOMAN ROBOTS IN THE PROCESS OF SHOT BLASTING

Manufacturer of compressors for car AC units.

Description:

The aluminum part cleansing line includes an abrasive treatment chamber operated by YASKAWA MOTOMAN robots. The material used for shot blasting is fine corundum powder. The area where the robots work is highly polluted with corundum dust, which has negative impact on the robot mechanisms and gripper elements, causing them to deteriorate at an accelerated rate. This is why the robots were equipped with dust-proof covers from EVO_dust line that protect the moving parts of the machine from ingress of corundum powder. The durable, impermeable cover protects the robot from damage and allows free unconstrained movement.

PROTECTIVE COVERS FOR SANDING ROBOTS

Description:

The purpose of the cover is to protect the robot during mechanical processing of aluminum casts with shot blasting technology. Since the robot works with a shot blasting machine inside a chamber, it is exposed to high amounts of abrasive, which is very fine corundum powder. Due to the small size of the grain, the abrasive penetrates the elements of the gripper and robot mechanisms, which significantly increases the wear of the parts.

In order to reduce the effect of the abrasive on the robot mechanisms, a protective cover was used to prevent ingress of the corundum powder into the parts of the machine.

COVERS AND SHIELDS FOR PAINTING AND COATING


OUR CUSTOMER:

This company is the largest producer and exporter of wooden roof windows in Poland. They also produce metal components for windows, blinds and roller shades.

Description:

EVO_lack covers were created in order to cover an automated painting station used for the painting of wooden elements of window frames. They are intended to protect the painting robot and the feeder from contamination with paint. EVO_lack protective covers are coated with anti-static coating, which enables them to safely work in explosion hazard zones.


PROTECTIVE COVER FOR A MITSUBISHI ROBOT

OUR CUSTOMER:

One of the largest manufacturers of auto parts. They produce parts of engine, body and exhaust system, as well as polyurethane engine covers and bonnets for world-renowned car brands.

Description:

MITSUBISHI robot is responsible for transporting workpieces from the press to the paint booth, where they are painted. The EVO_lack protective cover used in this case protects the working robot from grime and paint dust. The cover is constructed in a way that allows power cords and sensors to be attached. Cords do not have to be disconnected during the installation of the cover. The cover is made of fabric that is fully anti-static: it does not accumulate static charge, cause electric discharge, or attract grime.

COVERS FOR FOUNDRY ROBOTS AND SHIELDS FOR WELDING TONGS


PROTECTIVE ROBOT COVER AND ROBOT WRIST INSULATION

OUR CLIENT:

Polish glass manufacturer producing different types of glass, such as technical, tempered, as well as coloured glass used in making signal lamps for trains, cars and ships.

DESCRIPTION:

The cover is made for a robot equipped with a steel extension arm that picks up a portion of molten glass. The temperature at the vat, which is around 500°C, causes the arm to heat up near the wrist. Now the arm is separated from the wrist with an EVO_shield insulating shield made of durable, highly heat-insulating ceramic. The shield greatly reduces heat transfer from the arm to the wrist. The robot is also exposed to glass splashes, dust and small amounts of steam. The EVO_mold protective cover is made of reflective material, therefore it can reflect up to 90% of heat radiation emitted by molten glass.

Protection of welding tongs

The cover protects welding tongs which are exposed to contamination with soot generated in the production process. Another harmful factor is high temperature, reaching up to 250°C, which can damage not only the tongs themselves, but also some of the attached equipment as well. EVO_spark protective shields are made of specially selected fabric which is highly resistant to splashes of hot metal and welding spatter. The cover can be cleaned.

EVO_mold protective cover protects a FANUC industrial robot which transports hot components from the induction furnace to the press.
The protective cover has been made of specialist layered fabric that constitutes an excellent heat barrier, while remaining durable and strong.
The solid three-part structure of the cover provides precise protection of the entire robot’s body and the additional part of the gripper.

PROTECTION FROM METAL SHAVINGS AND OIL SPLASHES

OUR CLIENT:

A company producing cylinder sleeves for cars and trucks, as well as camshaft parts for the global automotive industry.

DESCRIPTION:

The EVO_dust protective cover was created in order to protects the KUKA KR 150 R2700 robot from metal filings and splashes of cooling oils used during the cutting of aluminum castings. The cover is made of special fabric coated with an elastic polymer, resistant to cuts, high temperatures and abrasive factors. The cover shields the entire body of the robot, including the power cables. This solution protects the entire robot from shavings and liquids, which makes servicing the robot much easier. The additional polymer coating provides the cover with hydrophobic and oleophobic properties. The fabric is resistant to temperature of up to 250°C and is completely fireproof.

PROTECTION FROM ALUMINUM SPLASHES

OUR CUSTOMER:

A company that is a part of a Japanese global manufacturer of compressors for car AC units. They make and process high-pressure aluminum casts and assemble complete compressors.

DESCRIPTION:

The factory contains five automated foundry lines that produce cylinder blocks and heads by means of high-pressure casting. EVO_mold covers are made to protect the foundry robots from coolant and aluminum sprays occurring during their work.

The EVO_mold cover is used to protect the ABB Robot gripper that transports heated elements of the car’s exhaust system after treatment to the quenching tub. The EVO_mold protective cover prevents heating of the device and power cables that may melt when approaching furnaces. The material of the cover has high reflective properties, thanks to which it is able to reflect up to 90% of thermal radiation. In addiction, the fabric is vapor-proof, protects the device against the action of vapors, liquids and oil splashes.

PROTECTION OF A COMAU ROBOT WORKING INSIDE A WASHING CHAMBER

OUR CUSTOMER:

A Polish automotive company producing diesel and petrol engines.

DESCRIPTION:

The EVO_pure cover protects the COMAU Smart NM45 robot which is tasked with loading and unloading engine parts to and from the washing chamber where they are cleaned and washed. The cover is made of waterproof fabric coated with polymers resistant to chemicals and moisture. Waterproofing and protective properties of the cover are enhanced by use of overpressure inside. While the robot is working, the cover is tense and all splashes easily flow down its surface. Limited number of seams on the fabric increases the leakproof properties of the cover and perfectly fits it to the shape of the robot.

COVER PROTECTING FROM GLUE VAPOUR

The EVO_dust protective cover was created to protect a KUKA robot that supports production of car speakers. The robot is located in a gluing chamber and is tasked with applying adhesive on the surface of speaker elements. The cover protects the robot from harmful effects of chemicals, vapours and contaminants. It is made of dustproof fabric that is resistant to chemicals and their vapours.
The advantages of the cover are: coating that allows cleaning off glue spatter and unrestricted access to the covered robot parts during maintenance. Because this work station includes a camera with lighting, the cover is made of fabric with special coating that does not produce reflections or change the lighting.

MARKING MACHINE COVER

The EVO_pure cover was created to protect the machine that marks steel, aluminum, ceramic and glass products, as well as its power cables, from ingress of shavings and liquids. The cover is made from fabric that is highly resistant to cuts and abrasive factors. The fabric is additionally coated with a flexible polymer, which provides hydrophobic and oleophobic properties. Both the fabric and the coating are resistant to thermal factors of up to 250°C and are completely fireproof.



WELDING CURTAINS, THERMAL INSULATION AND CONDUIT COVERS


WELDING CURTAIN

The EVO_spark curtain is used for covering of a COMAU welding robot whose work generates high amounts of hot spatter and harmful radiation. The curtain is impenetrable to light flashes, gasses, fumes and smoke. The cover is resistant to up to 650oC, and the coating to up to 300oC. The special anti-adhesive surface prevents contaminants and hot spatter created in the welding process from sticking, which extends the life of the curtain. In order to meet the customer’s need to supervise the machine’s operation, the curtain includes a velcro-closed window.
